Service timing: duration, buffer & processing time

Fit more clients into the same day with processing windows

Three kinds of time

A beauty appointment isn't one block of time, so Wemu doesn't treat it as one:

  • Duration — the full appointment as the client experiences it. This is what they see online.
  • Buffer — turnaround after the visit: cleaning, resetting the room, sterilising. The calendar blocks it; the client never sees it.
  • Processing time — the staff-free tail *inside* the appointment: the client is under the LED, in a mask, or their colour is developing — and you're free.

Why processing time matters

Set it on the service (Services → edit → Processing Time) and the calendar frees you for those minutes. A 60-minute LED facial with 20 minutes of processing blocks your column for 40 active minutes — so the next client can start while the last one processes. Same day, same staff, more appointments.

The client-facing side never changes: online booking still shows the full 60 minutes, and any room or machine the service needs stays reserved for the whole appointment.

A worked example

Client appointment: 60 minutes · Processing: 20 · Buffer: 10

→ Client sees 60 minutes online

→ Your column is busy for the first 40 minutes, then free

→ The room/equipment is held for the full 60, plus the 10-minute reset

💡 Tip: processing time is for the END of a treatment. If your treatment has a mid-service gap, split it into two services booked back-to-back.
